Deciding on Which Web Server
« on: November 01, 2020, 05:40:07 AM »
Hi guys

I'm new here. Been using Vestacp for many years before I realized that it's gotten basically useless when I have to set up core configurations properly from the command line. I've been playing with CWP for 2 long nights. Like a kid in a candy shop on a dev server.

I need help deciding on a web server package. (the choices are intense)

I am brining in 2 websites. A billing WHMCS and Xenforo forum.

I am tempted to run

Nginx + Varnish + Apache PHP-FPM

A little backstory. I developed an an api module for whmcs that connects to --> the xenforo forum and updates user data.

but Xenforo forum API requires "friendly url" support from webserver.

with VestaCP, I was running Nginx + php-fpm72

I tried and tried with Nginx rewrites but I could never get it to work. Because of the years of frustration and my love for Centos, I finally decide to come here.

So, do any of these CWP web server options come ready out of box for friendly urls support and if not which would be the least trouble to input rewrites for?

KISS. Apache only or Apache+nginx reverse proxy, if you must.
