inner page url not working

We setup a domain, we are able to access domain main page but when we check any inner page URL we are getting below error
Not Found
The requested URL was not found on this server.

For example #
domain.com working fine
but when we check domain.com/url1 - we get above error message

is the page URL generated from a script (PHP) or does it reference an actual path in the file tree?
