The only recommanded and convenable choice I see on your installation page is the "CentOS 8 Stream MINIMAL or BOOT"; The question: Is it a long term committment with Centos Stream so we can at ease install CWP with Centos Stream and we're sure there will be a compatibe upgrade with the upcoming versions of Centos Stream when we have to upgrade!?
If it is then why are you people talking about the switch to another distro just because of the duration/EOL?
-
I and many others will switch to ALMA Linux as there is a script called ELevation to convert Centos to Alma with full support.
This is a possible way you can go because once you have Centos Stream, there is no way back from stream and no way to convert to anything else.
-
CentOS stream is a beta OS, and as such will have allot of bugs & security flaws.
@Painkiller88 is right, once your on stream, you are stuck there.
You should go with AlmaLinux 8 that can be upgraded to 9 when CWP supports it.

Thank you for your feedback, at last I installed Almalinux

same with Rocky Linux 8.9, CWP works very well
-
I am using on Rocky 8.9 - works like a charm.
Rocky 8.9 EOL is not until 2029. By them i am sure Rocky 9 will be support (EOL 2032)
-
Problem was Rocky was missing needed repo files to do certain configs.
AlmaLinux is made by the same people who do CloudLinux.
Currently AlmaLinux 8.9 has an EOL on 2029-03-01. 5 years from now.
Since both OS's have a long EOL, is probably why CWP isn't in a rush to update CWP to 9.x

What’s the Hive Mind’s feeling about Alma 8 vs Rocky 8? I’m minded to go for Rocky because (a) it was set up by the cut who created CentOS and (b) its binary compatible with RHEL while Alma is only ABI compatible.
-
Rocky had/has a problem with libraries not being available, and is only ABI compatible also.
Unless rocky is violating RHEL terms, and ripping the code illegally.
And now rocky has ruffled feathers by partnering with ciq and trying to switch to a paid support platform just like what RHEL did.
You can view rocky's pricing at https://ciq.com/support/rocky-linux/
So if you are thinking about rocky now, you might as well go with RHEL.
Choice is simple, which is AlmaLinux.
Or of course you have the paid option of CloudLinux, which CWP supports.
And then there is Oracle Linux.
