Title: Bug in GUI for New Backup (beta)
Post by: adrianofnatal on May 14, 2026, 01:56:47 AM
Hi!

I would like to describe some bugs happening with New Backup (beta).
I know it is beta version, but something went wrong after last updated included S3 backups and other options, what was great!

1. The date in log is wrong, for my configuration. It's 1 day ahead;

2. When using destination to FTP of SFTP, the login failed. See logs:
2026-05-13 06:00:02  >> ionice -c 3 nice -n +19
2026-05-13 06:00:02 0
2026-05-13 06:00:02 TYPE FTP --> 1
2026-05-13 06:00:02 Type conection Back SFTP
2026-05-13 06:00:06 Login Failed
2026-05-13 06:00:06 xxxxx/ (here I change with x, but output was equal ftp login or initial directory, in my case, are the same)
2026-05-13 06:00:09 Backup Finished
2026-05-13 06:00:09 I have nothing to do..!

3. When modifying a FTP backup already created, the interface does not update fields when click in pencil icon to edit. When saving, creates another backup item;

4. Using destination S3, when saved, connection test works. If back to edit the connection, password field is not loaded correctly and connection test or backup fail;

5. Some errors occurs in browser console logs. Including a missing file (404 error).

The panel is updated in latest version, I think, 0.9.8.1226.
Distro Name: CentOS Stream release 8

Thanks!

Same issue on alma 8/9

The backup using S3 is using all root disk in /newbackup/ directory, but is marked to use S3. It should be using /home/tmp_bkp/ form temporary files, but still using /newbackup directory.

Something is wrong with this new backup.

Overseer.
Sure it has some bugs, but before added other options of backup, FTP worked well. Never had problems.
Now it simply does not respect when choose FTP os S3, for example.
It assumes that is a local file backup.

Hi, first of all, I'm so sorry to hear this! Please tell me which version of CentOS you have installed. Have you created a ticket or notification about this? We might be releasing a new version this weekend, and I'd like to resolve this for you as well.

Does anyone knows a workaround till it is a patch?

I didnt find stored password on mysql, is there a sqlite somewhere?

Also can someone explain to me why monthly backups are 1 - 7 - 14 and 28? where is 21? it should be 1 - 8 - 16 - 24 or just do weekly with 4 retention and monthly 1st with x retention. Claude can help you. wink wink.

I have successfully been using FTP backup under New Backup Beta for a long long time. Now, as of June 28th it just stopped working. If I go into the backup and attempt a Connection Test it connects just fine. However, the log shows :
Date Time: TYPE FTP --> 1
Date Time: Type conection Back FTP
Date Time: Failed to connect to "IP Address" (login failed)
Date Time: Blank
Date Time: Backup Finished

I have attempted to update CWP and restart services. I've tried deleting the backup and recreating all with the same results. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

SMB is working  ftp fails as it looks like it saving the ftp password twice hence  login fails.

10 char password becomes 20 chars after you save it.

SFTP is working when manual backup. Scheduled backup does not work. See my last post above.
SMB didn't test
S3 worked, upload backup file but not delete temp dir after each backup. It delete before all backup is done. You need to have A LOT of space to do backups.

Other methods I didnt test.

Is the new backup broke again? I updated to 0.9.8.1235 and I can't get any back ups to connect to Hetzner servers.

Does anyone has any luck connecting to Hetzner servers?

Is your IP address whitelisted on their firewalls?

I guess I'll reach out to them and see. It gives a invalid username/password error.

I keep getting an SFTP error when I try to connect. Here it is:

Something went wrong. Login Failed: Warning: Permanently added 'rs14.cloudlws.com,91.234.194.115' (ECDSA) to the list of known hosts. Permission denied, please try again. Permission denied, please try again. cd7697@rs14.cloudlws.com: Permission denied (publickey,password).

I don't understand how to resolve it.
