Nothing shows when i visit my url after uploading files

I uploaded files  to /public_html/ but  when the url is visited no page comes up and it gives an  error i tried again and the default cent OS test Page pops up. Anyone who can help me resolve this?

did you click "fix permissions" under user accounts?
