Uploading files by ftp is slow

I have uploaded files through FTP. It's very slow.

How can i change ftp settings to improve the speed of upload/download though FTP?

I can access sites with the fast speed. But when i use ftp to upload data, it is very slow.

Is this post still active? This is happening for me too. When using a normal hosted user it is extremely slow almost to the point of failing out. It's NOT AND ISP issue as I can log into SFTP in root and upload fine. If it's a small file it's just ok over FTP BUT if it's anything larger than say 40MB then it crawls to almost timing out.

I have this same issue. Anyone found a solution?
