How do I create a new domain account in CentOS Web Panel ?
You need to have installed CentOS Web Panel!
Configuration of WebPanel
When you login for the first time in CentOS WebPanel you need to set some settings in Web Interface.
- Setup nameservers (ns1 & ns2 with IPs)
- Setup shared ip (this ip is used for domains)
- Setup at least one hosting package (eg. default)
- Setup root email
& now you are ready to host domains…
If you have set shared ip, nameservers and at least one hosting package now you can create new domain account with CentOS Web Panel.
Adding new Domain Account
go to Accounts in left menu --> New Account
- Enter Domain name (eg. mydomain.com)
- Enter username (make it similar to domain eg. mydomain)
- Copy random generated password from CentOS Web Panel to safe place or set your password
- Select Package you created previously
- Setup domain/account owner email address
& Click on button Create
That is it! your domain is active & online.
Don't forget that you need to setup nameservers for your domain to work!

Hi,
I added my primary domain and changed nameservers and then httpd service was not working. The CWP panel won't come up after reboot :(
What's gone wrong?
-
you need to check your firewall/iptables if panel is not working as this is probably not the panel issue!
to delete iptables rules try this command:
iptables -F
-
hi. cw panel is work fine. but i am add a new domain its ok but not change anything web folders. only i see apache welcome page. i am manually edit /home/username/public_html/index.html not change anything. i only see apache welcome page. ( i am install with varnish) i delete index.html o see again apache welcome page.
-
have you set shared ip address in cwp and restarted apache ?
-

-
varnish will not cause any problems, you can contact advanced support for more detailed check

Related to domain, I found this little problem. When I'm adding new domain account, the domain automatically added to the server and also the directory was created. But when I check on list domain the domain doesn't appear there. If I try to add domain it says the domain is already exist.
The problem does not interfere with the system, all things work normal, but it is a bit disturbing since I cannot see what domain have I added into the server. I hope you can help to fix this. thanks.
-
are you adding domain or account ?
if domain exist or account with same domain than you can not add same domain as additional domain!
When you create new account you also have created a main domain for it.
-
I'm adding new domain and because I need different account for it so I also adding new account. But of course the procedure is creating the account first so technically the domain was added along with the account I create. and after that the domain is exist in the server before I'm adding it seperately with the account.
-
yes when you create new account you have also created a new domain so you do not need to add additional domain.
-
but why does it not show up in the admin panel under "List Domains"?
-
as there are only addon domains listed, you need to use accounts to see the main domain!
-
Is there any way to create account without a domain ?
Thank you
-
Yes, it is possible, but you would need to make minor modification in apache vhosts template.
Check this thread (http://forum.centos-webpanel.com/apache/temporary-website-url-in-cwp-for-accesing-website-before-domain-propagation/), there is described how to set this up.
-
Thank you for this thread. I understand the apache configuration but how can I create a user without a domain.
When I do not fill the domain textbox I have warning saying :
ERROR! Check All Fields (only lower caps are allowed and no special characters)!
Thanks again
-
you can add same sample domain like username.com if you need it for account only.
Or you can create is like on any linux system via command line, all depends on what exactly do you want.
-
I don't like the directory structure under the accounts. The account's domain goes into the main directory and all others into/under this. The files, folders from the main domain are mixed with all other added domains. In this way is also in cPanel.
So, when I create an account I enter a dummy domain, never use it.
After that I add all other domains, pointing each into different directory under user's account main directory.
The main directory contains no files only the added domains folder.

This is done via your domain registrar and is called "domain forwarding"
Essentially that means I if someone types domain3.com into their browser, your registrar redirects domain3.com to domain1.com in a users web browser.
You do this in my above example at domain3.com registrar.
Who is your domain registrar?
-
ok created User account in CWPpro, now in Control I like to install Wordpress. When I try to add domain it error's out when i type ".", a special character. So how to add a domain domain.com if you can type "."? Or I am missing something ?
-
btw, you can always simply add an index.htm or index.html file that reads with just one line to forward to another domain..
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; URL=http://www.yourdomain.com">
just open a blank editor, nano, vi, emacs, whichever..
and add just that line in the /home/{user}/public_html/{directory} of the one you want to forward FROM..
the "content=0" means to immediately forward, if say, you change that to a "5", it will ..wait.. 5 seconds before forwarding..
ie; you Could post a message that reads, "Please wait, you are being forwarded..", or, "whatever..." etc.
what i do, is create the Domain (in user panel), give it the public_html/newdomain.com
then if i want it to forward out, put that index.html file in that directory Pointing to the domain i want it to forward to.
super easy, and efficient.
the only benefit from doing it via you Domain registrar, is you may* be able to MASK the forward, some do, some don't allow that.
I havent needed it. so i don't.
hope that helps.

You are probably mixing additional domains with the main domain.
Additional domains are only additional and main domain is account main domain used to create account pointing to public_html
