Title: There is an error, please check that the account no longer exists
Post by: bILLY on September 07, 2018, 02:50:08 PM
Hello,

There's a problem with restoring full backup generated by CWP. I get error "There is an error, please check that the account no longer exists"

Alo checked /home/, /var/vmail, /etc/password and /etc/shadow.

So I make full backup and then tried to restore on brandly new installation of CWP, whitout any users, but also get "There is an error, please check that the account no longer exists" again.

This is the last part of restore log:

2018-09-07 14:32:35 Exploring user directory in the backup :
2018-09-07 14:32:35 Successful User Validation
2018-09-07 14:32:35 {"user":"","domain":"grep: \/home\/tmpback\/full-backup_20180905093049\/cp\/: No such file or directory","action":"add","pass":"CWPtestPASS","email":"grep: \/home\/tmpback\/full-backup_20180905093049\/cp\/: No such file or directory","package":"2","inode":0,"limit_nproc":40,"limit_nofile":100,"server_ips":"78.90.67.46","backup":"ON"}
2018-09-07 14:32:36 {"status":"Error","msj":"Check All Fields (only lower caps are allowed and no special characters or empty spaces)"}
2018-09-07 14:32:36 Error trying to create the account (Check All Fields (only lower caps are allowed and no special characters or empty spaces))

It seem like backup script searching for "cp" folder witch is not exist.

Also in cPanel Migration tab there's no filds like username for acc and email address whitch to fill.

I found how to solve the error, it is something that happened before with cPanel and I think it was inherited, before cPanel required the user to be 8 characters, let's imagine that the user in cPanel is jonhdoe2018, therefore your backup will have the following name

backup-8.24.2020_01-01-01_jonhdoe2018.tar.gz

You need to change it for example

backup-8.24.2020_01-01-01_jonhdoe0.tar.gz

The important thing is that it contains less than 8 characters, but when restoring in the control panel the user will remain jonhdoe2018

I am encountering the exact same issue as OP. This isn't about name length or whatever that last post was. Documentation from CWP is not useful as it no longer represents current UI. I need to import 3 accounts and am at a loss as the built-in tool does not work and I find no info on a path to resolution. Ideas are welcome...

I also do experience the same error and I haven't found a solution yet. Am having to manually create an account and upload the website. However, I did notice this notification when trying to create an account  CWPpro license is required for more than 10 accounts

I have more than 10 accounts and its likely this is what prevents restore??? Though I have been able to restore accounts before beyond this limit without an error.

I had the same problem just now and managed to solve it.

The mistake:

Problem when unzipping the file, the path /home/tmpback/./cp/ is not available

The solution:

1- extract the user.tar.gz backup into a folder;

2- create the "cp" folder inside the user's folder, and then inside his vmail:
/home/tmp/user/cp
/home/tmp/user/vmail/cp

Yes, he will complain about the "vmail/cp" folder later.

3- compact everything again as user.tar.gz;

Okay, now try to restore and it will work (it worked for me).
