Installation / Re: Just why????
« on: April 28, 2019, 10:12:56 PM »
I can see you are trying to install php-fpm.

What is the problem exactly? Are you also changing from apache to nginx or vice versa? Apache and nginx are different web servers so when you swap from one to the other I would expect you have to allow cwp to do this.

What happens if you follow the guide and go ahead  install/reinstall the web servers? If this is a new server, and hasn't got anything important on it, why not just do what it's asking you to do...but don't keep swapping from apache to nginx and back all the time if you don't want this to also happen.

Can i just remove RPCbind? Or

How to / Re: How do I get rid of Netdata?
« on: April 24, 2019, 09:58:06 PM »
but even if it is...just dont open port 19999. If one is running a VPS, one can block that both on the VPS itself, or via the service providers network firewall (which is outside the control of CWP). Its not rocket science.

This may seem ridiculous but one thing I have learned recently...when one encounters unusual behaviour such as this, always clear web browser cache before any other problem solving step (also test on another device and web browser).

If the above don't work, then go searching for a  problem in control panel.

I went the opposite direction...started with joomla and went to WordPress.

WordPress is a lot easier to learn than joomla, however they have a different philosophy.

My reason for changing also was about functionality...WordPress has a vast number of plugins to extend its functionality....a lot more than joomla. WordPress is also a lot faster to build websites with. I found and still find joomla incredibly clunky to work with.

How to / Re: How to login?

Do a hard restart of your vps itself at your service provider command shell.

Changing hostname might need a system reboot

How to / Re: [Tutorial] Installing Netdata on Centos Web Panel
« on: April 22, 2019, 08:19:33 PM »
Go to your vps service provider network firewall and completely block all traffic on netdata port/s.

Because blocking the port is being done from outside the vps, CWP can't enable it again.

Just close port 1999 at your vps service provider network firewall.

Cwp can't interact with that firewall and netdata external access is then blocked.

I gave you a meaningful workaround and you ignored it...Just close the damn port!

What about just closing the port?

I have port 19999 closed from my vps service peovider network firewall (outside cwp control) and netdata is not able to be reached from outside on thus port even if it was installed.

From what I read on security vulnerabilities websites, I think you are overreacting to this btw.

If thus is true, why does enterprise version of lightspeed work with CWP?

Does cwp not support it...ie doesn't work, or they just don't want anyone to go through backdoor and manually install open lightspeed?

Open lightspeed is a far better webserver than either apache or nginx.

Logo out of cwp, Try clearing your Web browser cache and then login again..

Also, just to be sure, if you have a different web browser on you PC, try using it and see if issue also exists with a different web browser.

CentOS 7 Problems / Re: error 403 Forbidden
« on: April 20, 2019, 10:31:41 AM »
So clearly one line of investigation into 403 forbidden error is to check your home/office up address in mod security to ensure it has not been blacklisted (mod security has a tab where you can perform IP check).

In my case, it is not specifically the IP address that has been banned, because I have other systems on this IP that are working no problem...it is the combination of IP, desktop PC, and chrome browser!

So I am not sure exactly how mod security has distinguished one browser and computer from others on my network, however clearly it does...and in fact even goes so far as to block a specific browser on a specific computer amongst a group of machines all on the same network.

Perhaps it obtains internal hostname or IP address on my office network?

In any case, I now know the problem and need to remove this blacklisting.

The key to my finding this was doing an ipaddress lookup for my office network static IP address. I suggest this is a far better option than searching through logs.

As it turned out, the logs I should have been checking were the mod_security ones (not nginx or apache). And that explains why my apache/nginx logs had nothing about this error!

I think this should serve as a learning experience for this forum and hopefully provide at least one avenue of investigation to this largely unanswered question on this forum!

First port of call...check mod_security logs to ensure your home/office ip hasn't been blacklisted!

I have removed and reinstalled google chrome on this pc, makes no difference. The websites on CWP still are throwing 403 errors just for google chrome on just this computer!

hmm i found this...

CentOS 7 Problems / Re: error 403 Forbidden
« on: April 19, 2019, 11:39:14 PM »
As an update...

I now find the following:
desktop pc google chrome - 403 error (even after clearing browser cache and cookies for all time)
same desktop pc Microsoft Edge and firefox - both of these two broswers work without any problems displaying the webpage
mobile device google chrome or samsung phone browser - both work no problems
Imac desktop pc - website works no problems
microsoft surface tablet IE and Chrome - works no problems

All of the above devices are using the same static ip address to access the internet.

So for some reason, this issue is restricted only to the desktop pc google chrome browser that i use to manage centos web panel and clearing cookies and browser cache makes no difference.
