How can I completely turn off the DNS part of CWP?

I am only hosting a few websites and GoDaddy holds my DNS so I want to disable/turnoff/remove DNS from CWP I do not need it at all.

CentOS 7 Problems / What Nameserver should I use?
« on: October 23, 2020, 04:00:18 PM »
I am new to Linux and the CWP setup. I have used IIS for 20 years.

My question is what should I put in for the name servers. All my domain names are at GoDaddy and I have always used their DNS.

I host my own mail server, web servers, etc, onsite. I have 8 static IP's and all DNS is setup at GoDaddy. My Sonicwall routes external IP's to my internal, all is normal.

I have 5 websites running on my Windows IIS server all on the same IP. I have never setup any DNS internally and all has worked perfectly for 20 years. SO now the Nameserver thing in CWP has me very confused. can I disable that? If not what Nameservers do I use? please tell me how to do this the right way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, John

Are you trolling?
Just change the WP configs to match?
Don't expect CWP to have no bugs (or even many functions actually working), or you'll be very disappointed. See numerous forum posts pointing out issues.
There's a bug report page - good luck!

and you arnt kidding, I just rebooted and now, Failed to start Web server Apache  :(

its not looking good, I was just looking for a simple cpanel to use for my personal web sites and CPW may not be it, error after error for 2 days, I have re-instaled 3 times now., and now no apache - Job for httpd.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status httpd.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.

My sites have been on my IIS server for 15 years and I have never had one issue, not one. I was just trying to go to Linux for better performance.

ok, just pointing it out.

In IIS there are no accounts, you just add websites.

so in CPW performance wise it would be the same to have 5 sites under 1 user account as it would be to have 5 user accounts?

on IIS I dont do anything. I just add the website...any dns is just for the local Active Directory Domain. all web dns is at Goddady. so to see CWP wanting name servers and it generate so much dns record info when I ad a site its very new to me.

CentOS 7 Problems / Re: SSL DNS Error

I just fixed for the admin site my editing the host name at the bottom of the admin page. the info was right but once I opened and saved it added SSL for the user login. Going to keep looking to see why it still wont add to the users websites.

CentOS 7 Problems / SSL DNS Error

Auto SSL not working today.

Getting error: DNS of your domain doesn't point to this server or you have htaccess restrictions.

Everything is up-to-date and DNS is right.

Installation / Name Servers in Admin panel

What Name Servers in Admin panel should I use?

I am hosting my oun CWP panel. I have hosted my own websites on a windows IIS box for 20 years and now switching them over to a Linux server and using CWP. All domains are registered at GoDaddy and I have always used there DNS.

So now I see CWP is asking for Name Servers, and at go daddy my 5 websites have different name servers. So what I am asking is what is the best way to set this up? do I make CWP my own Name Server? any impute on this would be great.

Thanks, John

Bug when changing default DB name on WordPress install.

When I setup a WordPress site and leave the DB name and user default, the site will work.

If I change the DB name and user name, then make the site it will not work. "Error establishing a database connection"

I have 5 websites. Should I create an account for each website or should I make one account and set each up under that account. I am just wondering witch way would be the best performance wise.

« on: October 22, 2020, 09:31:03 PM »
I am just wondering if WordPress will run on Ngunx only and if it will be faster? I tried it with web server set to nginx and WordPress never came up.

thanks, John
