CWP Secure CentOS Kernel
« on: October 21, 2020, 11:55:18 AM »
Am i missing some thing here ?

Just logged into my cwp7 panel and see a message  about not using CWP Secure CentOS Kernel so clicked it and it took me to this place

http://wiki.centos-webpanel.com/cwp-secure-centos-kernel

There is no mention of  how to get it so if your going to force us  to see stuff atleast put some instructions or a link on the page.

*** Developers get rid of this crap! ***

With so many and frequent frequent bugs in CWP, why the hell would anyone trust a supposed secure kernel from the same source?
Cloudlinux or nothing.

If you decide to keep this marketing spam, then I sincerely hope many people will be driven to replace CWP with alternative control panels, of which there are a few good contenders.

Here's an amazing idea: instead of taking the effort of promoting another product, fix this one!

cwp kernel is the best-integrated security option out there, it's similar to some of the options from SELinux/AppArmor/CloudLinux so running a shared hosting with many accounts without it is risking that one hacked account can compromise others.

If you know anything about the security of shared hosting then you wouldn't write this kind of nonsense after reading info about what kind of protection it has. The kernel is well tested on the big servers and running many shared hosting servers some having more than 1000 accounts.

In the instructions, it's visible that it's available only to servers with an active support service.

Is there a way to remove this warning? I'm the only user of this VPS running CWP, but I run multiple domains which I admin via CWP. I don't have any needs for a secure kernel.

This is a "centos-webpanel" forum and we run CWP - we don't need to be spammed with other products.
cwp kernel is the best-integrated security option out there..
In who's opinion, yours? Let's see an unbiased report comparing the contenders - a link will do.
Given the lack of suitable response getting CWP security tested, this should be interesting.
If you know anything about the security of shared hosting then you wouldn't write this kind of nonsense after reading info about what kind of protection it has. The kernel is well tested on the big servers and running many shared hosting servers some having more than 1000 accounts.
You're deviating from the real issue: we, as CWP users, Pro and free, don't need to be spammed by alarmist popups within the control panel.
As an aside, my two main WHM/cPanel VPS have Cloudlinux on them. Installed only to support ageing PHP 5.3.29 - no other reason. They have NEVER been hacked without a 'secure' kernel, because they are properly managed.
In the instructions, it's visible that it's available only to servers with an active support service.
So the product spamming is a total waste of time and just an annoyance, to those who never intend to spend money on your support service.

In short, just remove the popup.
You already promote your secure kernel on at least one page in CWP.

Yeah, i think the CWP should pay more attention in integrating/implementin full backup and alot of other bugs instead of promotin their kernel.

So how do you turn off the alerts for this crap?

In the instructions, it's visible that it's available only to servers with an active support service.

I'm already paying for CWPpro.  While I don't think it's appropriate to continually push extraneous products on anyone, it's truly insane to bother people that have actually paid you money.

This kind of nonsense is going to push me to find another solution.  YOU WILL LOSE MONEY BY ANNOYING YOUR CLIENTS ON A DAILY BASIS.

in addition to unwanted inconvenience,
getting kernel Linux at $ 12 a month is unusual,

please take care of developing more, updating the basics

Contrast here with the HestiaCP forum and the way devs take on board suggestions/bugs/criticism. ;)

I like others on here am getting sick of seeing this back door advertising

I have paid for 4 licences for CWPPro and have no want or need to pay for support or your secure kernel

Nothing infuriates me more than backdoor advertising such as this and shall very soon be finding another option if this continues

There are proper ways to advertise your kernel and support AND THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM
