Will CWP Break from Upgrading to Centos 8?

I'm still on Centos 7 and, of course, it reached end of life.  I found a way to upgrade to Centos 8, without starting over.

I tested this on a different server and it works, however CWP was already having issues (500 error) prior to the upgrade.  Therefore, I don't know whether CWP would break from the upgrade.

Has anyone upgraded successfully from 7 to 8, and still have CWP working?

You want to move from CentOS 7.9 to AlmaLinux 8. Use Alma's ELevate tool to accomplish this (after performing a FULL backup -- server image).

CentOS 8 is already EOL, so no point in even considering it. AlmaLinux is the best path forward at this point.

As @overseer mentioned, you want to make a snapshot or backup of your server, and use ELevate to upgrade to AlmaLinux 8.10

Thank you for the information.  I've been looking into AlmaLinux and it seems very similar to CentOS.

Is there a recommended program to take the snapshot?

CentOS Stream, AlmaLinux, Rocky, etc. are all based off RHEL.

RH controls the following in their development cycle: Fedora (alpha), CentOS Stream (beta), and RHEL (release).

Your provider should provide the snapshot service for your server.

Then there are 3rd party backup companies like Acronis and iDrive.
