My house ip changes whenever we lose power. I know there is a file to restrict logins to one or more ip addresses.
Is it possible to restrict to a range since my house ip doesnt change by much.?
-
Sure, you can use /etc/csf/csf.allow and set a subnet

Im referring to the panel exclusive IP access file not csf. Its in wiki.
/usr/local/cwp/.conf/.access_root

Just buy/rent a static IP address for your home/office internet connection from your internet service provider.
Here in my country it costs me $10/month for one.
Solves the problem.

CenturyLink does not offer static IP's as I found out through google.
The only way to get a static IP is to upgrade to a business plan which costs much more money, and you get less bandwidth.
CenturyLink is the worst

Perhaps register a cheap vps somewhere, Use that as a VPN gateway, with only ssh key access, to your main server and access it through VPN static IP.
You can get cheap VPS for $5-10/ mth depending on how much ram. Checkout Vultr.com

Ha. thats a great idea.

OK, I got a vpn set up on Linode for $5/month. I used openvpn and installed it using RoadWarrior easy install script. I made it more difficult by spending hours reading about vpn's. I used debian because Linode had a tut on it and recommended Debian. So now I have a static ip and no longer care what happens to my house ip address.
I will say this though. Loading cwp using the vpn seemed to be very slow. Not sure if that was a consequence of the vpn or not.
You can toggle ip address in system tray on windows. I generally use it only for CWP business. If you know any other reason to use it, post it here.
