Newbie Question: Can't Create User Fail
« on: June 08, 2019, 06:30:40 PM »
I am just getting started with CWP7 Pro.

While trying to create a new account user, the process fails, without explaining why, other than saying the userx was not created.

This is apparently happening because prior to settling on CWP7 i had installed Virtualmin, set up an account for "userx", and then uninstalled Virtualmin for CWP.

I removed the /home/userx folder completely. I removed userx from the passwords file. I removed userx from any and all mysql databases and as a mysql db user. Still I get the error when trying to create userx. I have no trouble using the panel to create usery, uzerz, etc.

Any one know what am I missing that needs to be cleaned up for CWP to create the account as userx?

Any logs to show what CWP is unhappy about and bailing?

Thanks!

CWP works efficiently on a fresh installation
However, please ensure user dont exist in /etc/passwd file

I strongly advise you to start from scratch...trying to use an O/S that has already been configured by another proprietary control panel will almost certainly cause you ongoing problems.

There are very few control panels that simply sit on top of an operating system and don't alter it in some way.

Save yourself many hours of heartache and start with a fresh VPS.
