securing the sub-domain of a CWP server
« on: December 21, 2021, 08:37:42 PM »
Hello

Am running fresh install of CWP on Centos 8 (DigitalOcean). New(er) linux user in general.

I'm having trouble getting https active on the sub-domain.

I have a regular CWP user setup that has the domain added, along with other subdomains. certs are working fine otherwise, but CWP won't let me add the subdomain in order to get the cert for cwp.xxxx.com

I tried a couple ways using command line and got nowhere. What am I missing? Happy to provide any outputs necessary.

Thanks!

you need to check logs
VPS & Dedicated server provider with included FREE Managed support for CWP.

*** Don't allow that your server or website is down, choose hosting provider with included expert managed support for your CWP.

thank you for the response, however I'm too dumb to properly interpret it.

CWP logs? apache logs?

in the CWP user account I can't add the subdomain. I get a CWP error message. I manually generated a cert but I don't know where to put it, plus it seems there should be (and likely is) a better solution.

thank you.

Your first mistake is choosing centos 8.  It will no longer be supported after next week.

I'm only using it to facilitate hosting WordPress sites in a simple to administer panel I am familiar with.

If you have an alternative distro/panel suggestion I am all ears.

If you are talking about the server hostname cwp.xxx.com then you must add the SSL via Server Settings -> Change hostname
You can ask me to solve any problem with your server for some money in pm  ;)

thank you for the tip. worked perfectly and in my own defense that's not the most obvious solution in the world, it it?

have a spectacular holiday and thanks again!
