upgrade centos 7 to 8

good morning,
I have server centos 7 with CWP 7 installed. Is it possible to upgrade my server to the centos 8 version, keeping CWP 7 running? And when CWP 8 comes out, will the control panel be automatically updated?
Or is it better to wait until CWP 8 comes out and re-install from scratch?
