Y2K deja vu

centos 7 EOL is June 2024.

Centos 8 Dec 2021.

Is this another Y2K scenario where no one knows what is going to happen at midnight?

I don't see any major announcements about the future of CWP without the recommended Centos7 installation.  All of the other centos 8 distros are really not ready for prime time as they say.

I see storm clouds on the horizon for CWP.  Or maybe it is a dust cloud from the stampede of users leaving?

I don't really believe the Chicken Little weather report. CWP EL9 support is in beta, so a version should be forthcoming and it should be stable for production use thereafter. Meanwhile, you can use RHEL for limited use (check the license restrictions for # of free seats), Oracle, Rocky, or (best choice) AlmaLinux 8.

Allot of repos have already stopped or are stopping support.

What you are saying about other distros is False.

AlmaLinux 8 has been running successfully, and is currently the recommended OS.
Rocky does have some missing packages, and it's recommended.

AlmaLinux also have an ELevate program to go from CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux 8.

CWP also has a beta CWP out for AlmaLinux 9.

AlmaLinux 8 has been running successfully, and is currently the recommended OS.
Rocky does have some missing packages, and it's recommended.

Last time I looked....2 days ago....centos7 was still the recommended OS

Admirable......but is this is just a bandaid.  And we all know what happens when we rip the bandaid off.

Again, supports my position that we are in a Y2K position.......waiting to see what happens instead of being prepared.

Moving to anything other than centos 9 is futile.  My prediction is that cwp for centos9 wont happen for at least a year and more likely 2.  By the time it happens, centos 10 will be out.

I doubt there will be any future CentOS Stream support, since it is now a beta operating system.

I think I see your confusion, I'm guessing English isn't your first language.

What is meant on Step 2, IS NOT that CentOS 7 is the "recommended" OS.
What IS DOES SAY is if you use CentOS 7, that the Recommended ISO is the 'minimal version', Not Boot, Network or DVD.

And "Recommended Stable" means the Latest Release Version, Not alpha or beta versions.

CentOS 7 IS DEAD. FINISHED. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT.

AlmaLinux 8 is Now The Recommended OS.

At least until CWP for AlmaLinux 9 is finally released out of beta.
