Message after upgrading to MariaDB 11.4.x LTS
« on: September 29, 2024, 02:30:00 AM »
After the upgrade to 11.4.x, ran:
Code: [Select]
mysql -V
And got:
Quote
mysql: Deprecated program name. It will be removed in a future release, use '/usr/bin/mariadb' instead
mysql from 11.4.3-MariaDB, client 15.2 for Linux (x86_64) using  EditLine wrapper

Looks like MariaDB is finally stopping calls to it using mysql.

How is CWP going to handle this?

They need to get with the times!
Or switch to Percona...

Support of MariaDB 11.4.x ends in 4 years and 8 months. I think this is more than enough period time to make smooth switch from mysql to mariadb :)

My worry is CWP installs the past EOL 10.4 (ended 18 Jun 2024), even on AL9.

And if a point release (e.g. 11.4.5) comes along and gets rid of the mysql name support.

Guess I'll stick with 10.11.x to be safe.
It's LTS support does end until end a year earlier, in 3 years and 4 months (16 Feb 2028)
