Moving MySQL

Hi,  I am running out of space on my root partition with /var/lib/mysql taking up 26GB of space.  I tried moving the mysql files to my home directory using the following document however it did not work.  https://wiki.centos-webpanel.com/how-to-change-mysql-location

Unfortunately its not as easy as it says in the document. 

Can someone please help me with this, I would be greatly appreciated.
