SSL / SSL For domain instead of hostname
« on: December 12, 2017, 10:28:14 PM »
Hello,
I used the paid service to have the webpanel installed on my VPS today. As part of this, the SSL certificate (Let's encrypt) was installed. However, it was installed on my hostname (hostname.mydomain.com). So when I go to my website domain (mydomain.com), my browser gives the warning that the certificate is invalid. If I try using the installer to create a certificate for mydomain.com it sets it up with an empty certificate so it doesn't work.
How can I change my SSL certificate to work with mydomain.com as well as hostname.mydomain.com?
Thank you for your help.

Installation / Clarification of hostname instructions
« on: December 12, 2017, 04:27:22 AM »
Hello,
In the installation instructions for CWP it says "This hostname cannot be the same as any domain that is on your server (for example, if example.com is a domain on your server, use hostname.example.com as your fully qualified hostname)." So it says it cannot be a domain on the server, but then gives an example of using a domain on the server. Should it instead read "can be any domain on your server"?
My situation is that I have a VPS that I will use to host just one website. Should the hostname then be a subdomain of the domain name of the website I am hosting?
Thank you.

How to / Disable root ssh?
« on: January 05, 2016, 05:22:58 PM »
Hello All,
The How to forum looks like the best option for my question. I apologize that it isn't a straight How to, but more of a should I/could I discussion. Prior to using the centos-panel, I had root login to ssh disabled and used sudo. I now have root enabled but working with the panel now, I really am rarely needing to use ssh. I see from the security logs/email notices that IPs from China are hammering away at my root account trying to guess the password (and getting blocked thanks to CWP security measures). Should I worry about this? Is it possible to disable root login with CWP working and/or is it even needed?
Thank you for your input!
PS. Really loving CWP and wishing I'd found it earlier.

How to / Re: cron syntax help needed
« on: December 30, 2015, 05:54:41 AM »
Thank you again for your help Glenn. I'm still not completely clear on one part though. So in the command form would I just put in
" lynx http://mysite.com/members/cron_amazon.php > /dev/null" or is something needed with it like
" /usr/local/bin/php lynx http://mysite.com/members/cron_amazon.php > /dev/null"
" lynx http://mysite.com/members/cron_amazon.php > /dev/null" or is something needed with it like
" /usr/local/bin/php lynx http://mysite.com/members/cron_amazon.php > /dev/null"

Hello Glenn,
The file "cron_amazon.php" moves images and video uploaded to the website to an Amazon S3 server. This can be done manually by opening "http://mysite.com/members/cron_amazon.php" in a web browser, but the cron job is meant to automate the process.
I've tried various commands such as:
/usr/local/cwp/php54/bin/php -q /home/mysexy/public_html/members/cron_amazon.php
and
/usr/local/cwp/php54/bin/php -GET http://mysite.com/members/cron_amazon.php > /dev/null
but none of them load the mysite.com/members/cron_amazon.php file.

How to / cron syntax help needed
« on: December 28, 2015, 06:07:18 AM »
Hello All,
I'm having no luck in getting a cron to run as needed. I've searched the forum and tried many different options but I still can't get it done and I'm hoping someone here might have a solution. The developer of the script I use for the website this cron is required for indicates that "We advice to use the commands which ping cron's URL - not physical path to the cron php file." and gives the following examples:
/usr/bin/lynx -source http://mysite.com/members/cron_amazon.php
or
GET http://mysite.com/members/cron_amazon.php > /dev/null
I'm using php V5.4.45 and the user for the account where the website files are is "mysexy"
Thanks for your suggestions and help.
