Maybe i didn't been clear with question my website is located in /usr/local/apache/htdocs and i access my site through ip. How to use ssl with this setup?

Hi i have problem with changing document root, i changed document root in httpd.conf but nothing happens?   
i want to access "/home/username/public_html" through ip address
