E-Mail / Do updates to email filter templates apply retrospectively?

Hi - I have applied an email filter template to several mailboxes.
If I update the email filter template with additional filters, are these applied to these mailboxes?
Or does it only apply the filters that the template contained when it was added?
I hope that makes sense.
