DNS / help with name servers

Hi everyone

Am new to CWP and setting up a web server - normally i purchase a reseller account but want to grow and start doing a lot more for myself server side wise.

I have installed CWP got it up and running with no problems how do i now create custom name servers for example ns1 and ns2.example.com and point them to the IP so when i need to host someone i can just say use these name servers.

i have a test server and a test domain name. Do i ask my register to create private servers or do i need to host the domain elsewhere and then setup some ns records?


Sorry for the basic question and sorry if its in the wrong section of the forum.

finally found a fix. its a simple one but i just changed the root password on linux and then it allowed me on using the new root password.

Thanks @BeZazz for having someone to just give me ideas.

Thank you for your help.

I did find a script to restart cwp that didnt work. i also created a whole new rocky 8 install on a new vm on linode, installed it with the instructions on the site and the same again. wont allow me to login comes up with login failed. with 2 fresh installs. anything am doing wrong maybe?

Sorry i should have mentioned that

i have tried chrome, brave and edge, on 2 different computers and also a laptop with a 4g sim card all are the same, think its best to rebuild the server?

Hey

I have just installed cwp on a test server using linode (not sure if you need thast info sorry) using rocky 8 install was fine. asked me to reboot which i did. i can get on the login to control panel screen but when i login as root with the root password which works fine on ssh it keep saying login failed.

I did install it on a office pc locally last week as a test and it worked great and logged in with the root details.

am i doing something wrong?

Thanks just opened the ports for CWP and ordered the licence.  do you know how long it takes to activate - it says its active on my account when ordering but the features are not active on the install.

Hi

I am in the middle of testing cwp for a few projects internally on a local static address - If i purchase CWP pro licence can i use the pro features even with a internal ip - when you go to purchase the licence it asks for an ip address - at the moment my servers are local only.

think i found the issue all along.

did another fresh install using the minimal version but i think i was using the wrong install file



i was using version 7 on alma 8! used 8 and its all working.

must say the 10 minutes i have had a play its great!

if so i have done but do i need to tell it not to install the gui? when i use that it installs the gui

so sorry! i am so used to typing apt (dont use yum package manager much - always use ubuntu) i meant yum! muscle memory while typing that is if you ever saw my command history on any redhat based systems 90% of my errors are typing apt

Hi

Its behind NAT - testing CWP before i start to use it

Fresh install, all that was done was apt update and apt upgrade and a reboot then ran the commands to install cwp copy and paste from the web site. nothing else not installed anything

i used the iso AlmaLinux-8.9-x86_64-boot.iso

I can open it up with a fresh install for you to take a look if i pm you?

I installed Download Alma Linux 8 – 64bit (MINIMAL)

ran the updates,

rebooted the server

ran sh cwp-el8-latest and i get the same error again

cwp-el7-latest: line 604: mysql: command not found
MySQL root password is invalid!!!
Check password and run this script again.

what else could i be doing wrong?
