Backup / Re: Exclude a directory
« on: October 27, 2023, 06:23:06 PM »
It is possible to do this without paying for a custom script?

I can guarantee you that the answer is no.  They have gotten extremely greedy, and they want user to pay for the most basic features.

PHP-FPM is a great example.  Want to use a completely free software that they did not develop? Be prepared to shell out a monthly fee.

Want to use Comodo WAF?  Another completely free software that they did not develop.  Again, monthly fee.

Want to have your server be secured by having things like phpMyAdmin, Roundcube, etc auto update?  Too bad!  You need to pay for that!

And since we're on the topic of security, want to use free scanners (again, not developed by them) like Maldet Scan, RKHunter Scan, Lynis Scan, and SymLink Scan?  Sucks to be you if you don't pay.

And here's the kicker!  If you do pay for support and get all these options, the people who handle the tickets will constantly break things, and then blame it on you.  This happened so many times!  It's like they scrape the bottom of the barrel to find people to work for them.  They have no idea what they are doing, but are more than happy to blame you for their mistakes.

Their greed is going to completely kill their business.

Must be something new, because i use PHP-FPM, Comodo WAF and all the stuff you mention, and i don't pay monthly for anything.

All i have is a pro license and thats it.

Updates / Re: How to upgrade the OS
« on: October 27, 2023, 05:54:20 PM »
I currently manage three servers, one running CentOS 7 and two running CentOS 8 Stream. All of them use CWP Pro. As CentOS 7 is nearing its end of life, I'm considering upgrading to either AlmaLinux or RockyLinux. I understand that there are ways to upgrade from CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux, but I'm concerned about potential compatibility issues with CWP. I'm leaning towards setting up a new server entirely to avoid these issues. Has anyone here already done this?

On the CentOS 7 server, I host around 100 domains. I'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to migrate these to a new server. Is there a method to move all accounts at once, or will I have to transfer each user account manually?

Furthermore, if I switch to a new machine, the IP will change. Will I need to inform all of my clients to update the IP on their nameservers?

Any suggestions to simplify this process will be greatly appreciated.

The Elevate Tool/Script alma provides is working well in upgrading, but if you wanna setup a new server, the CWP to CWP migration tool is working very well, did this a view times without any problems.

I don't have a problem with migrating accounts from one server to another but i really would prefer the in place upgrade amal provides because setting up the server with all the security tweaks etc will cost me way more time than just migrating accounts, this is the smallest part.

I really wanna avoid configuring everything again so Elevate is the way i will go when it is time to change. And in half a year, i hope they will improve this process so it will work at 95%

Why isn't Elevating a way, you don't wanna try?

Updates / Re: After the last Yum updates user can't login to cpanel
« on: October 27, 2023, 05:37:36 PM »
Hi,

Sure it comes from the updates? It is not a general problem, as i can still login to the user Panels (tested from outside my home network)

Do you make backups from your servers? Are you able to restore a point before the update or make a backup of the other server, then make the updates and try if it is the same problem?

Installation / Re: facing errors on CWP installation
« on: October 24, 2023, 06:42:57 PM »
@starburst

Do you know if Elevating from CWP7 on Centos 7 to Alma 8.8 is working, or does Alma 8 need CWP8?

Have you ever tried to elevate and if yes, is the PHP-selector fixed or PHP-FPM?

As time is running out and this seems to be a working inplace upgrade, it would be good to know if everything is working now.

thanks

Does this ELevation script really work and is CWP7 compatible when i update /elevate to Alma 8.8 or is it just elevating the OS and kills the whole CWP stuff?

has someone ever used it?

thanks

Installation / Recommended CWP Version for fresh install
« on: October 23, 2023, 09:00:09 PM »
Hi,

i know for a long time it was always CWP7 the recommended version, but from the state of today, when Centos 7 is EOL in half a year, is it still recommended to use centos7 or which version should i install if i want to setup a new server?

Centos 8 is already EOL, Centos 7 is in june 2024 so is if someone wanna stay with Centos it needs to be Centos 8 Stream or delayed but with delayed we get security updates half a year later or what?

So what does the experts say?

Thanks

Installation / Update CWP7 to CWP8 Stream
« on: November 12, 2022, 01:33:42 PM »
Hi,

I know about a year ago we already asked if it is possible to update from cwp7 to centos 8 stream and the answer was no.

Now i found a guide to update from centos 7 to centos 8 and in the final step to centos 8 stream.

Can anyone experienced or maybe someone from the team check the guide and tell us if maybe there is a way to update our servers without re install from scratch.

Link to update guide: https://techviewleo.com/how-to-convert-from-centos-to-centos-stream/

CentOS 7 Problems / /tmp should be owned by root:root
« on: November 04, 2022, 07:33:38 PM »
Hi,

since a while now i recorgnized that the ownership of the /tmp folder has changed.

This was always root:root but since about half a year it is nobody:nobody

i haven't changed anything so it must have been an update.

If i change it to root:root it is changed nobody:root

Is this how it should be now? Because the csf firewall check tells me /tmp should be owned by root:root

So it seems like an error.

Can anyone tell me what happened here?

Thanks

CentOS 7 Problems / Can i install python 3 or will it break something
« on: July 14, 2022, 12:42:15 PM »
Hi,

i have python 2.7 running on my CWP Server, now i wanna have a script on my server that needs python 3

is there anything from the CWP using pyhton that will break if i update the python 3?

Or maybe is there a way to have both versions running?

I don't wanna break the CWP so any risks when updating or if possible run both python versions together?

Thanks

SSL / How to secure my shoutcast server/streams with https
« on: April 07, 2022, 03:03:44 PM »
hi,

i am using nginx and i installed shoucast v2 plugin but it is http only and i don't know how to secure it as a https connection as it is not showing up as a seperate url or something.

how can i make my shoutcast using https and where to implement it in the nginx.conf.

you could maybe implement this as a default option in a future version.

thanks

Information / Your cwp forum site has an ssl error
« on: March 23, 2022, 07:19:36 PM »
today i got an error while trying to visit forum.centos-webpanel.com

NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID

just for info, maybe you fix this site and renew the cert or force a https to http redirect if you don't wanna provide a https connection.

E-Mail / Re: huge number of emails being sent
« on: February 26, 2022, 01:00:41 PM »
The logs for the mails can be found here:

File Management -> CWP Log Viewer -> choose maillog

there you can see if the mails are sending from internal or if someone is connecting from external to send mails.

You should also check here: https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx -> select test Email Server to see if you are an open mail relay
