Information / Re: PHPBB 3.2 install problem
« on: August 19, 2017, 09:36:41 PM »
Ok it is sorted now. I wasn't entering the database name and username correctly on the database configuration screen. PHPBB install requires slightly different info than joomla and smf etc. The database name should be entered in full including the username like user_database name.
Headache over! phew!

Thanks for reply studio4host.
I have checked mysql connection and it is ok. I have checked apache error_log and there are a few lines that might be the problem....
ModSecurity: Access denied with code 403 (phase 2).
ModSecurity: Status engine is currently disabled, enable it by set SecStatusEngine to On.
I will look into this tomorrow and see if this has anything to do with it and i will also have a closer look at error_log and see if i can find anything else that might be worth looking into.
I have tried installing phpbb with mod_security off and then with mod_secuirty on and firewall disabled and it still wont work. I ran a practice install of SMF yesterday with same set up and no problems at all so its got me stumped. If i cant work it out then i will just re-design my theme for SMF and say goodbye to the phpbb headache .

« on: August 17, 2017, 01:00:13 PM »
Hi All,
Has anyone who has installed phpbb through cwp had problems with an access denied error with the database on setup?
I cannot get past the database page on the install process with a "access denied to user on database" error. I have tried everything but no luck. All permissions are set up correctly for user and database.
I have manually installed Joomla and SMF many times without any problems on my server so the problem seems to be phpbb related and not my db setup.
Has anyone else had this problem with phpbb?
Any help would be appreciated.

Yep that was the problem. I fixed account permissions for user (impressed how easy that is to do with cwp!) and all sorted now.
Thanks for the replies and the advice you both gave to check apache error log.

Ok, i have checked apache error log, do you think this may be the problem?
[Mon Jun 26 18:23:13.440495 2017] [:error] [pid 31870:tid 140164099729152] [client 108.162.229.51:34764] SoftException in Application.cpp:350: UID of script "/home/myuser/public_html/index.php" is smaller than min_uid
There are several lines like this in the log.
I am wondering if it is an ownership issue now as i uploaded the joomla files to cwp as root and not as the user?

Thanks for the reply.
I am fairly sure that it is not mod_security that is causing the issue as my live joomla site was installed through softaculous with mod_security on with no issues. I tried yesterday with mod_security disabled and &i still had the issue.
I will check apache logs later but it is just strange why all works ok with auto-installer but not manually.

Hello guys and gals,
I have a problem installing joomla on my set up and was hoping someone may have a suggestion on how to sort my problem....
I have been using softaculous premium demo and everything works perfectly but i just logged onto their site to buy premium license and they only accept payment by paypal which is a no-go for me now as have recently closed my paypal account. Softaculous may be overkill anyway as i only want to run a few sites on my vps and i would prefer to install manually.
I am having trouble installing joomla manually. Everything is ok up until the part where i point browser at my domain and i get a 500 server error page. I tried this today and a month ago and always the same problem.
Joomla folders have been unzipped and are in root folder for the user account.
I have tried disabling csf and then mod-security to see if that is the problem but still the same 500 page.
DNS is configured correctly for domain.
Anyone have any ideas why i cannot get to install screen?
Many thanks,
Entheo

I expect you have sorted the problem now but dns was confusing for me until i got my head around it all.
I used the free dns manager on cwp and it was ok but it is a lot easier for me to use cloudflare for dns and just add their nameservers to cwp.
I have three A records for naked domain, www domain and hostname pointed to my vps IP and then a few more mx/txt records for my email hosting provider.

Update:
I decided to switch my DNS to Cloudflare based on 6sense's recommendation and i am very happy with it.
Centos 7, CWP + cloudflare is a winning combination for me.

E-Mail / Re: Email not functioning

Thanks for the reply Jae, I gave that a go and the rebuild went ok but still the same problem after. I have checked certificates and they seem to be fine so i dont know what it can be.
I am using my vps hosts nameservers, i wonder if that has anything to do with it? It is also weird how i cannot access roundcube mail either.
Edit: I have just used a thorough online email server diagnostics test and everything was fine.

Hello guys,
I am having problems with my emails that i have created on my panel. It is a new install and everything works brilliant except for emails.
I cannot access roundcube at all, i cannot set up accounts for them on thunderbird as there are warnings stating that the certificate is invalid, Unknown identity and the cert if for another site (Centos web panel).
MX records and A records seem to be as they should and have tried lots of settings and rebuilding mail setup but still nothing.
Can anybody suggest a way i may be able to sort this problem out please?
Thanks in advance

Ok thanks, so it might make sense to use hosts nameservers in my case as mail setup etc should be configured properly.
One more thing, how should i edit the nameservers in cwp? I mean if i add my hosts namerservers, what ip should i add after it, my server ip address, the ip addresses related to the hosts nameservers or can i leave it blank?

Hello All,
I was wondering if i could get some advice about DNS settings please?
My VPS host recommends that i use their nameservers for everything (registrar, web panel and their own dns manager) and use A records pointing to my ip which i have done but other places including my registrar recommend using my own nameservers registered to my server ip address.
Can anyone tell me which is the best way to set up my dns please, i.e. using host nameservers vs my own.
Many thanks,
Ps. I switched from vesta to cwp yesterday and am loving it! Its a great project and more my kind of panel!
