CentOS-WebPanel GUI / Password help

Ok let me start with I am not super linux savvy.... I can follow instructions when I am properly caffeinated 
although lately the coffee has not helped me figure out my password...
I had it so it was saved I thought - and wouldn't need to type it every time....
This is the ROOT CWP password on a self managed server....
However.... my tech guy and I did change it (or I was pretty sure we did) but either way NONE of the ones I wrote down are working and I cannot login and my tech guy is out of town....
I know ALL passwords can be changed via ssh with a simply command typed into putty...
can anyone help me with this so I can access my CWP again?
