CentOS Configuration / How to Use my own DNS?
« on: November 30, 2016, 07:13:13 AM »
Hi! I'm currently hosting a VM on Azure with CWP. I'm trying to figure out how to use my own DNS instead of FreeDNS.
I'm actually a bit confused because I don't know if I should configure it within Azure Portal (i.e. change setting from 'Inherit from Virtual Network) or 'Custom'.
From how I understand it, if I currently set my A-Records and CNAME-records on my registrar to point to my Azure VM (i.e. use my public IP, use my Azure DNS name) the domain will end up pointing to the 'default' homepage of the server, not my specific account-website.
I'm using Namecheap as my Registrar. Is there any way where I can just set some A Records and CNAME Records on Namecheap and have it point to my CWP-hosted website?

Installation / Temporary Domain Name for Website?
« on: November 30, 2016, 06:37:42 AM »
Hi! I have a freshly installed CWP on my VPS. We're working on a replacement for a current live corporate website, and we'd like to upload and configure everything on the VPS before we point the official domain URL to it.
However, how do I do this? I mean, if I create a account (with its own /home) directory, I need to associate a domain-name to it right? What happens if I decide to change the main domain-name somewhere down the line (i.e. when we're ready to launch)? Do I just live with the fact that my home-folder will probably be mislabeled?
Thanks!

Installation / Installed CWP on Azure VM. Next Steps?
« on: November 29, 2016, 01:12:46 PM »
Hi!
After much work, I've finally successfully created and installed CWP on a Linux (CentOS 6. VM I made via Azure.
Everything seems ok, and I'm able to see the CentOS HTTP Test Page.
Take note of the following things:
1. Azure has set the Public IP of my server. I've set this to Statuc
2. Azure can be configured (and I have done so) to have a 'DNS Name'. It's a simple subdomain of azure.
3. I also have a different hostname which I checked before installing CWP. It's a long string and my VM has its own subdomain.
As far as I can tell, Azure can be configured to work as a DNS. But I don't think this is a good idea since I plan to host at least 3 different websites on the server (although all of them would be subdomains of my main website's domain name).
The plan is that we'll have a main website at www.company.com; then various other website as product1.company.com; product2.company.com.
This server will be exclusively for these websites. No need for different webpanel logins for each, since my team and I will be the only people doing anything on the panel.
All of our websites will be CodeIgniter (PHP) websites.
So what would be my next steps?
Do I create a new user? Then add domains? Should I make a new user for each of my websites (even though the other websites will be subdomains?) Then should I just upload via FTP after logging in as each user? How do I associate each domain name?
Note that I'm hosting my domain name somewhere else, and all I'll be able to edit on that end are the A-records and CNAME-records.
Any ideas how I should proceed?

Installation / Help - Freshly Installed CWP on Azure VM (always CWP.client)
« on: November 28, 2016, 08:10:37 PM »
Hi! So I'm basically running an Azure VM with CentOS 6.8. I installed CWP and followed the instructions to the letter, and it seemed like everything was hunky dory.
Azure Portal wise, I made sure that my IP addresses (public and private) were set to Static, I added inbound rules to allow HTTP, HTTPS and the CWP port (2030), and I also created both a valid SSH key (which I used via Putty to install CWP), and a password for the 'root' user (although the username was set to something else, like 'developer').
However, when I finally signed into CWP, I used the Azure root user (developer) and the Azure root password. It logs in, but I'm ALWAYS on the CWP.client dashboard. Never on .admin
Can anyone help me out? Did I do something wrong?
If I can just get past that, I'll then try my hand and configuring the domains (not sure how to do this, since Azure Portal also has it's own DNS), and then hopefully set up my website/s.
