Installation / Re: More info about apps please?
« on: January 22, 2025, 09:57:02 PM »
Well, yes I used to do that but it tended to get me in trouble because I would sometimes fiddle about when I didn't need to. In this install I thought I would install all my domains under a user account and only go into admin when I needed to. Still doesn't help with the apps though does it.
The must be some reason the users are give then ability to install things like wordpress, I just need to know when they are not there when used.

Installation / More info about apps please?
« on: January 22, 2025, 01:37:32 PM »
I've installed the latest version of CWP
I've often seen the apps script but never bothered to use them but I'm getting old and lazy now so I thought I would give them ago.
I logged into the user account and picked SMF to install, I filled in all the info and the thing seem to finish but when I when the site it was clear although the database had been created the was no data in it.
So I suspect the are other things I need to do in the Root Admin to make this work?

Other / Ten Years - Big thank you to all the staff & members
« on: January 22, 2025, 01:20:56 PM »
I recently installed CWP after not having an installation for a year - Doing a lot of moving.
I wanted to come on here thank everyone who have worked on CWP and helped in this forum and then while updating my profile email address I noticed I first joined this forum in March 2015.
I'm very impressed with the progress made during that time and even from my last install to the latest. Well done everyone.

Information / Re: Would this install work?

Well we'll soon see, I'm install Alma as I type. I'm not looking for perfect and I'll be using what I have without buying more "stuff".
I'll be using 4 drives, 2 ssd & 2 hard drives.
I've been looking for a tutorial on the best way to set these up if any knows? Naturally I'm booting from the one SSD because it's only 125gb and the other is only 500gb so I was think this as a cheque drive? but that where my knowledge ends. Any backup will be added later as the data has multi copies anyway.

Information / Would this install work?

I have been using CWP pro at home for a number of years. I recently retired and want to maintain my brain cells a bit longer so I want to do more with my home server than just host a few wordpress sites.
At the moment this configuration fits my needs - need advice on if it will work and any likely problems. I don't really want to move to TrueNas to do this;
At the moment I'm thinking ALmaLinux 9.4 + CWP + Next Cloud + Jellyfin
Ideally (in order of preference) I want to celibately edit & sort photos, Download old TV & Video to stream in the house, host wordpress and anything else is a bonus.
Hardware is just an old i7 HP Envy tower with decent GPU & Ram, 2 matched HD, 2 SSDs

« on: January 06, 2024, 01:17:33 PM »I noticed a Node.JS manager, can this be used to add Rocket.chat to the server? if so does anyone have a tutorial on how to get that done? I really would like to use it and don't have another server.

Installation / Viewing Web Content on Private IP
« on: August 01, 2019, 03:12:51 PM »
My main server has served me well for 5 years now - I have ten wordpress sites on it.
I'm about to move house so thought it an ideal time to update the server. So I've copied all the data on to an new install of CWP on a new machine, I've imported the databases and create all the domains.
However I want to test the wordpress sites work before I switch the IP address to the public IP. I want everything right before I do this switch. So any advice on how I can view these site on the local network IP address?

« on: April 10, 2019, 10:28:14 PM »

By I can't find these files - I changed the timeout is what seem hundreds of places and tried all sorts of fixed for this but none work. I'm hoping this will fix it it. If not I'll need to remove FPM somehow.
Apache version: Apache/2.4.39
PHP version: 7.3.3

I don't why but I discovered that putting this in the htaccess file fixes the problem, don't have clue how changing the shared IP address would result in that but here it is;
Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch

Apache / Change IP now no vhost
« on: March 16, 2019, 06:28:16 PM »
First I need to say my server runs on a local network - can't afford hosting at the moment - for that reason I often have to change the shared IP address when my internet provider change the web facing IP on the router - this is also the reason my I can't upgrade to PRO
I've change the IP a few times but today I had a problem, I'm now getting "You don't have permission to access / on this server." on all my domains accept the base domain which works.
I've tried everything to resolve this, I don't run Mod security so it's not that. I'm ran the permissions fix.
Anyone any ideas? this thing has been running for month fine before I made this change.
