SSL install when domain is not pointed to the server.
« on: March 25, 2022, 07:27:52 PM »
Hello,

I am attempting to install a Let's Encrypt certificate on a domain that is not pointed to the server. I receive an error stating as such.  The site is for back up only in the event the main site goes down.  Is there a way around this?

Thanks,
David

Point it temporarily, create the SSL, then remove the pointer?
But you will have to do it every 90 days-ish

Or, point it temporarily, create a self-signed SSL, then remove the pointer.
you will have to do this every year-ish

If the main server get's it's certificate from LE, you can "Deploy" the certificate to you backup CWP.  All depends on what program the main server uses to get a certificate.   CWP uses acme.sh
