Install SSL on actual CWP link being ip number
« on: June 26, 2020, 05:09:54 PM »
Hi,
I have SSL installed on some of my domains whihc is great.
I have moved pma to one of the domains so its now secure.

How to i make the actual cwp and cwp admin logins secure knowing they are Ip numbers..

IE https://IPNUMBER:2031/login/index.php
or make one of my existing SSL certs be usable by CWP , can i point it to the curent certificates as i have subdomains ?
Basically above shows https  but scratched out as obviously cert not installed there ?

maybe u need to change hostname in cwp settings to something like srv1.domain.tld ,  make sure a A record points to the ip with srv1.domain.tld or a wildcard * -> ip

wait until dns change complete (perhabs on settings - maybe 24hours) or if ur bind is ur primary dns u can make it faster.

if u change the hostname, automaticly a autossl certificate will be generated

Someone who doesn't understand SSL at all?
It is designed to work on domain/host names not IP addresses.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_Layer_Security

.. IE https://IPNUMBER:2031/login/index.php ..
This will never work.

@Nazgile
The letter 'u' is not a word! 'You' and 'your' are words.

The fact that it is a multi-country/cultural board makes it more important for language to be as clear as possible. SMS text is absolutely of no use here and became unnecessary about 20 years ago, when the SMS character limit was raised.
Yes, my 'foreign' language skills are pathetic. ;) A mark of poor education in an English speaking countries: I should be fluent in Gaelic/Malay but was never taught these, as a child.
