CWP Cannot be Installed in Alma 8 - Devel repo Issue
« on: July 31, 2026, 07:26:21 PM »
I really dont know since when but the last version of CWP cannot be installed in Alma 8 because they looking for a repo that is not there.
PHP will not work, Modsec will not work, a lot of things will not Work.

Alma 8 is out of the scope. None fresh install will work.

Which -devel are you saying is missing?

Almost every package has a -devel.

ModSecurity has had an issue, where you have had to fix a line manually to get it working.
If you look at Apache's log it will tell you which one.

Actually it is with AL9, the powertools repo is no more in AL9 and AL10.

Yea, tried to update PHP, and just got the wheel spinning.
Kinda looks like Windows when it doesn't want to do something.

Take a look at your error, and see if this can help:
https://starburst.help/control-web-panel-cwp/control-web-panel-cwp-admin-tutorials/apache-wont-start-after-enabling-mod_security/

Good thing the settings can be done thru CLI & nano.

What are your Webservers choice? (Apache only, nginx only, Apache<->nginx, etc.)
There is a problem with Modsecurity-nginx conector, it's a headache to fix.
The problem is with Modsecurity-nginx connector, must be downgraded.
It is a serious problem, and the bug only appears under specific conditions—specifically, when rendering large pages exceeding 500 KB.

I contacted the developers of the ModSecurity-Nginx connector last year and opened an issue because the bug was cutting off part of the page, and they fixed it. But it looks like there was a regression problem, and the bug has been reintroduced. There’s no other option; if you’re using Nginx, you have to downgrade.
The ModSecurity-nginx connector eats up a portion of the resulting HTML page.
If your CWP have a few sites, not problem. But if your server have dozen of sites, CWP ends up completely broken, unreadable.
I spent three days, to find the problem.

But the problem is specific to Modsecurity-nginx connector, if you use nginx only web server.
Modsecurity for Apache is all ok, normally. Or it should be working normally; the problem many people are experiencing lies with the CWP interface for ModSecurity, not with ModSecurity for Apache itself.

You had asked above:

With AL8 modsec is not working.

So I was answering that part.

php_switch_v2 is working in 1.7

PHP-FPM is also working.

Today with cwp 1.7 i installed on alma linux and modsec was broken for the second line lib64 error in the conf file and because comodo waf cannot be downloaded anymore, so you need to use owasp or not useit at all.

And the second php-fpm cannot compile.
Solution in this post. https://forum.centos-webpanel.com/updates/cannot-install-php-fpm-on-alma-8-9/
