Would appreciate some guidance (or a suitable script) to install just the CWP core module without the trailing LAMP stack. Or does the installation script provisions such an tailored mode, e.g. ./ cwp-el7-latest.sh --install=none ?
Running the script as it is seems to be insensitive of an existing LAMP stack and overwriting everything, unless I am badly mistaken?

I believe the core module cannot be broken into pieces because of the configuration in place.
This is to avoid manual intervention to make it an easy deployment than a cumbersome one.
If you plan to segregate you might have to plan on looking into existing wikis http://wiki.centos-webpanel.com/ (http://wiki.centos-webpanel.com/)

probably due to the customized version of cwp-hhtpd/phpfpm/suphp, which is nowhere (neither somewhere in the wiki nor in here) explained of what has been tailored exactly, lacking transparency clearly. And as far as I can tell the cwpsrv is operating independently of cwp-httpd
Other panels are more flexible with tailored installation scripts

To make matters worse cwp-httpd is compiled with php tied in, as opposed to install httpd and php independently. Thus creating an unnecessary dependency on the cwp-php switcher, latter being full of bugs. I am not seeing amy benefit of this particular tie in but just the contrary.
Switching php modules in the apache config would be much easier and way faster than having to go through this elaborate recompiling process the cwp-php switcher is invoking.
The root user should have control and flexibility and not being taken hostage by the panel. None of the other panel providers seems to have taken such route
