Installation / Rocky Linux 8 too Rocky??
« on: December 08, 2022, 02:26:54 AM »
So I have the Business tier support and if your of the administrative team please see open ticket and read carefully the open ticket #923030. Now here is what I have noticed so far.. I installed using Rocky Linux 8 because I wanted a server that had an EOL of a few years. This gives me time to move or transfer things over to another server in the future if I need to etc. But some thing is wrong.. I don't think the CWP panel installed correctly here is why I have had to submit tons of tickets so far for some things such as Clamav not updating or being installed to iptables not being installed. Here is my history from the beginning of my installation.

Code: [Select]
[root@cwp ~]# history
    1  uname -a
    2  yum update
    3  yum upgrade
    4  hostname cwp.lorentedford.us
    5  yum -y install wget
    6  yum install https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-8.noarch.rpm
    7  dnf install wget -y
    8  yum -y update
    9  yum install htop
   10  reboot
   11  htoop
   12  htop
   13  cd /usr/local/src
   14  wget http://centos-webpanel.com/cwp-el8-latest
   15  sh cwp-el8-latest
   16  htop
   17  cd /
   18  clear
   19  htop
   20  csf -e
   21  yum install iptables
   22  yum install lfd
   23  csf -e
   24  curl http://dl1.centos-webpanel.com/files/s_scripts/sinfo.sh|sh
   25  htop

As you can see I followed the directions for the most part outlined here: https://control-webpanel.com/installation-instructions

Issues at the moment are as follows..
Nextcloud.lorentedford.us is forbidden
owncloud.lorentedford.us is forbidden

Some how I think lorentedford.us is attached to the root user or a floating user instead of user loren.

We had some sort of DNS issue where the DNS service wouldn't even start properly.

at one point I would try and login as loren and all i would get would be a blank white screen nothing would populate. I had to delete and re add that user several times before it would allow me to login.

See the following tickets that are related all to installation features or panel issues during initial installation.

Ticket# 704138, 478890, 820288 Again this only applies to admin staff if they have this capability to reverse this information.  When installing Nextcloud and owncloud I did so from what I could tell the default addon in cwp panel and I installed them into the subdomain so that they would work from that subdomain. However the staff reply ensures me its normal that these folder locations are suppose to be empty after installation.. It's like they either don't understand what I am referring to or this isn't what actually happens when you run the installation script.
Here are some screen shots of my installation.

However when I look at those file locations from file manager it shows these locations to both be empty. Next cloud and owncloud don't work after installation. I submitted all this to the support team and they seem to think all this is normal..

I suppose what I am asking now from the community what would you do at this point? Would you trust this as being normal or just scrap this installation and restart all over again with a fresh install. What my concern is we put all this time and effort into things and then some thing else goes wrong after I have already transferred my data from my primary hosting company solutions which they use cpanel.. I am an experienced linux user I have used from Ubuntu 14.04 Lts all the way up to current and have in the past worked on many asterisk projects with centos for allstarlink back when we were running ACID installs for repeaters and gateways etc. I have in the past played with panels from ehcpforce.tk to nethserver and even cpanel at one point in time but I thought I would give cwp panel a shot I have heard great things about them in the past and felt that the timing was right especially with Rocky Linux 8 being eol in 2029 ish area I just felt it was the right time.. Just looking for advice curious if I am the only one experiencing these weird but random errors from cwp panel installation of it is just me.

Thank you in advance for your comments feedback and opinions! I will greatly be looking forward to them as I proceed with caution working with the business tear support teams that have so far not been very forward thinking when it comes to this installation and the issues that are occurring.

Greetings I have done a fresh install here and installed Rocky Linux 8 with cwp Panel business. Reaching out to the community today because I am noticing issues while installing exploit scanner.
