Installation / Re: CWP - suitable for a single user/domain CP?
« on: December 25, 2014, 05:21:03 PM »
i understand, but that doesn't answer my question...

because i cannot point DNS to the server until it is completely setup, i need to use a 'temporary' domain to install the CP

after it is installed, i would like to point the permanent domain at the server, and only the permanent domain, so the server does not look like a shared server from an SEO point of view (it is my understanding that mail servers and search engines give a lower rank to shared IPs)

so the question is, can i swap out the temp domain with the primary after installation?

this is a problem for CP's such as zPanel and, possibly, CWP : if there's only one user and one domain, how can you install and setup the CP before transferring an existing live site to the new server/IP? pointing the domain for a live site to the new IP before it's completely setup is not an option for obvious reasons

hi glenn - thanks for the reply

apparently you have to have a domain pointing to the server to install CWP - my problem is that i can't point the domain that will be hosted on the server until the server is up and running - i have another domain that i can use to install CWP, so after everything is set up, can i then switch domains?

or are you suggesting setting it up normally and then adding the primary domain? which brings me back to the same question as to how search engines and mail servers 'see' the server since i want to look like it's all running on one domain as far as DNS and such

Installation / CWP - suitable for a single user/domain CP?

i'll be the sole user for a single domain VPS and am wondering if CWP is suitable for me?

it is my understanding that both search engines and mail servers 'frown' upon web hosting accounts (shared) where your website domain is essentially a sub-domain of another domain and the mail server is shared, and this is something i want to avoid

so i guess my question is, can CWP be setup so that only one domain is used and so it doesn't look like a shared/web-host server to search engines?
