Apache Builder (compiler) not working
« on: May 11, 2018, 12:20:23 PM »
I tried to update Apache to latest version. The latest version in the drop-down list is 2.4.33:

Once compiling completes, Apache cannot start because httpd.conf is virtually blank except for a couple of lines (forgot to record those).

If I manually restore a backup of httpd.conf, Apache will start but it still shows it's version 2.4.29:

Am I missing a step?

Once compiling completes, Apache cannot start because httpd.conf is virtually blank except for a couple of lines (forgot to record those).

Below is contents of httpd.conf after rebuild:

Include /usr/local/apache/conf.d/*.conf

That is quite strange. Your file got wiped out, for sure. The lines you show are the last 3 that should be in that file.

One way to more easily see what options were actually being used in your old .conf is to grep for everything that is not commented in the file, then you could adjust the above accordingly:
Code: [Select]
egrep -v '^#|^    #' /usr/local/apache/conf/OLD-httpd.conf

I also wonder if the following steps might help? Know it is generic advice.
1. Rebuild Apache again
2. Select webservers and save and build
If the httpd.conf gets 'fixed' somehow I am guessing it would be here. The next 2 steps would really just be to ensure these areas of the webserver are configured properly.
3. Rebuild virtual hosts
4. Run
Code: [Select]
sh /scripts/restart_cwpsrv5. Attempt to restart httpd

It just does not work for me. I've tried over and over.

After I perform the rebuild and if I manually edit httpd.conf and replace all of the missing configurations and restart httpd, it still shows v.2.4.29.

Noticed this thread so I tried it myself and got the same issues.

I just did this same upgrade and didn't have any problems. Here is my httpd.conf:
(Be aware this is setup for apache+nginx+varnish)

So I switched to apache+nginx+varnish and compiled again and it works.

Oh one thing I forgot to mentioned and not sure if this have any major issue.

Add the end of the log tail -f /var/log/apache-rebuild.log I did get this error.

Code: [Select]
Error:Can't add notification!

Sorry to hear you have same issue but now I know it's definitely a CWP bug, as I suspected.

I tried your suggestion and it worked however, Nginx fails to start because of the following error:

Code: [Select]
Jun 10 22:50:33 panel.mysite.com nginx[14455]: nginx: [emerg] SSL_CTX_use_PrivateKey_file("/etc/pki/tls/private/mywebsite.com.key") failed (SSL: error:0B080074:x509 certificate routines:X509_check_private_key:key values mismatch)

There is nothing wrong with the cert or key. They both match.

I get the same error.

Is support any better if you upgrade to Pro? There are some serious bugs and it seems Support does not moderate the forum very often.

After I post the last time I was bug by that "Error:Can't add notification!".

I went back and try other options. Other versions work without that message. Then I tried  apache+nginx. No varnish. And boom! It works. Compiled with no error.

After it compiled and everything is good. I switched back to apache+nginx+varnish. Everything is working fine for me.

I don't know I am testing CWP right now so still very new. But so far I like it a lot. The apache+nginx+varnish configuration works great for my WordPress websites. I was able to dropped a caching plugin that I used for years. And perform much better. So for sure I will be using CWP.

As for CWPpro, I read on their website that it move varnish cache to ram so that's even better. I am planning on running the pro on one of my vps. This current testing one will remain with just the normal CWP for websites and apps that don't required caching or don't matter too much.

I fixed this. The cert issued for the website needs to be added to the top of the bundle cert. My original bundle cert contained the intermediate and root certs, only.

However, the reason for creating this thread still needs to be fixed.
