Permanent Diable ClamAV
« on: November 15, 2018, 08:40:12 AM »
I tried stoping this service via Dashboard & it get disabled but after couple of hours it starts again. My VPS have low memory that is why i want to disable this service because it takes too much memory & slows down my VPS. Is there a way to permanently disable this service. I also tried via command line using this command "service clamd stop" but its still start itself after some time. Is there a proper way. Kindly Guide me

You could uninstall it if you would never use it, this is what i did as i use other software
:
yum remove clamav*

But to stop it restarting im pretty sure you need to make sure that it is off in systemctl too (not sure how to check/configure this as i uninstall everything i do not need rather than disable)

Is there a proper way. I don't want to get in trouble after removing it and dealing with other linked issues. Can you tell me proper steps to remove it officially it will be much helpful.

Hi there, you can stop ClamAV and avoid starting at server's reboot by executing:

Code: [Select]
service clamd stop && systemctl disable clamd
After that, reboot your server and you will never see ClamAV started again.
