Why do we need centos 8 immediately?  I'd rather wait 6 months for all of the centos 8 bugs to be fixed.

I'll give you an example.

I recently upgraded my (bare metal) server, but unfortunately CentOS 7 uses a really old Linux kernel, so my 16-core CPU stays throttled because it thinks that each core is 50 degrees hotter than it actually is!

I looked into it, and the only solution is to upgrade to a newer Linux kernel above ______ (I forgot the version offhand) but as long as I'm stuck on CentOS 7, my CPU is going to run slow because the system thinks it's overheating. 2200 MHz per core instead of the usual max 3800 MHz per core!

So yes, we need CentOS 8.

Have you tried to upgrade to the latest Kernel?
As of this message it is at 5.3.11, which I am currently running on CentOS 7.7.1908 without problems and CWP.

That might resolve your problem with the CPUs.
Mine are running at 3792 MHz.

---
As of 14NOV19:

CPU Details: 1 Core (3792 MHz)
Distro Name: CentOS Linux release 7.7.1908 (Core)
Kernel Version: 5.3.11-1.el7.elrepo.x86_64
CWPpro version: 0.9.8.918

It looks like you don't necessarily need a new Centos version, but a new kernel.

Check this:

It's fairly simple to install.

when centos 8 is released, we will have to test before we make of it.
But surely there will centos 8 version of CWP

Hi, it would be possible if CentOS can be upgraded from 7 to 8. For example, you are unable to upgrade CentOS 6 => CentOS 7

Hi "evansa" and "Igor S.", do you have any news regarding the release date of CWP and CWP Pro for Centos 8 ?

Thanks in advance for the support.

it's too new and still has many things missing...but if you need centos 8 then you can try to install it manually and enjoy many issues you will have with it...but you can look that as a project which would allow you to play and compile many custom service to get all working.

Your solution not work !!!

I made this update whit this guide from Kernel v3.x to Kernel v5.x but at the moment CWP PRO (Centos Web Panel Pro) for Centos 7 has reported it automatically and by itself to the Kernel v3.x !

Thanks in advance for the support.

 :) Hi "studio4host",

I'm sure you will do your best to release the version of CWP (Centos Web Panel) and CWP PRO (Centos Web Panel Pro) for Centos 8 as soon as possible.

Please keep us informed.

Thanks in advance for the support.

not for now, we didn't tested el8 yet since it is new and many packages are missing or in under development.

I know this has been mentioned before.

But now that Red Hat announced CentOS 8.2.2004 as the currently supported version of CentOS from RedHat 8.4, does CWP have an estimated date?

running something that is not ready (NOT having all the needed tools) would bring you many NOT working things.

I am looking to Install a new instance of CentOS Web Panel; and wondering whether to use CentOS 7 or 8.
Looking at the end-of-life dates for CentOS 7,  I see that Full Updates only go until the end of this year.
see https://wiki.centos.org/About/Product
After Q4 2020, only Security errata and select mission critical bug fixes will be released for C7.
Which means ideally I'd be wanting to be on C8 from next year.
I really don't want my server to require a rebuild after just six months, so I'm wondering if I wait a month or so, if C8 support will materialise for CentOS Web Panel.
I see in an earlier post that a mention was made there were some missing dependencies in C8.  Does anyone have any details about what is outstanding?
