Installation / Re: The big Question
« on: February 13, 2020, 11:31:45 AM »
Other control panels i use have the following structure

Home/User/
         Domains/subdomain1/public html/website files
                          /subdomain2/public html/website files

         Public html/primary website files

Much better way than how i recall this panel does it.

So a users p arent domain is separate from addon domains

If you are able to connect using desktop PC app, then dns has nothing to do with this.

You need to post here what settings you are using for desktop PC and what setting you
Are using for mobile apps.

1. TLS or just SSL
2. PORTS for the above (they use different ports)
3. Incoming and outgoing mail servers (which will affect dns records).

Don't use mail.domain.com for dns if you don't have a hostname called "mail". Use your servers hostname.fqdn for dns mx record. Then that becomes your incoming and outgoing mail server.

Don't forget to add this hostname.fqdn for spf record too.

I also have Virtualmin control panel...it detects resized disk automatically (nothing to do)

CentOS-WebPanel GUI / Re: Change control panel login ports to 80/443
« on: December 15, 2019, 08:53:18 PM »
why would you want to change to those ports for the control panel...that is not done with any control panel i have ever used (cpanel, vestacp, ispconfig, virtualmin, ispmanager...)

You dont want your control panel running on either of those two ports.

if you are trying to get SSL working (ie https) you dont need to do anything other than open the CWP SSL port in your VPS network firewall (and quite possibly on the server itself if closed) and then install and SSL certificate.

Information / Re: Developers needed
« on: December 09, 2019, 05:35:03 PM »
I would very much like to see development of this panel continue as it is a great idea and has so much potential. It just needs some fundamental changes in it development strategy to be fixed. If Studiohost would just implement the suggestion from this forum on how to correctly run the design and development cycle, they could quickly turn the issues with this panel around in perhaps less than 1 year.

They also need to actually invest some decent money into development...clearly they are not spending enough and the panels reliability is really suffering as a result of these things.

Information / How to Submit CWP-Pro version Support Tickets
« on: December 04, 2019, 03:16:56 AM »
I cant believe i did not know this, but i think i may have just found out something that might be of help to others.

When we first upgrade from CWP Free to CWP PRo, we are given a WHMCS interface where we can log in and check our invoices and various other things to do with the CWP Pro license.

If one logs into that interface and checks the menus, there is a support ticket menu in that WHMCS interface where we can contact CWP team for support for our product.

The WHMCS url is support.centos-webpanel.com (dont forget to login to your account).

I havent a clue how it is I did not realise this before. Perhaps if in future on the forums, moderators could actually tell us more specfically about how that works rather than just blindly point pro users at a url without explaining what it does, that might help people actually go and try it.

hope this helps other pro users.

I am not sure you need SELINUX.
I know that at least one competing control panel Ispconfigv3 had it disabled in tutorials written as recently as 2 years ago (I'm assuming that is still the same because ispconfig v3 has been out for at least that long.
I'm not even sure it's enabled in virtualmin either?

CloudLinux / Re: PHP selector Cloudlinux
« on: November 20, 2019, 10:05:39 PM »
I notice that your system is running php5.6.
You need to log into the main panel dashboard as root user and change to php7.3.

I also cannot get the user panel php selector to work. I actually am not convinced this function even works in CWP...another bug fix.

This panel seems to have a lot of "pretty pictures" that are a roadmap to where it will head in the future but don't actually work right now? I spent 4 hours yesterday just trying to get the file manager to upload a 1GB website migration...I gave up in the end and instead put the website on a Virtualmin server I also have.

I am contributing to this panel by keeping my pro install in the hope that one day soon they will get it working properly.

CentOS-WebPanel GUI / CWP User Panel php Version not changing
« on: November 19, 2019, 10:23:31 PM »
in CWP User Panel, I choose CWP Settings>Php Selector>Domain then change available php version to php 5.6.
I then click "Update version"

If i then refresh CWP User panel or choose a different menu option, in lower left hand menu i notice that the Application Version is still php 7.3.3

The php selector window is also blank again (ie no php version is displayed).

if i
1. Go to root user CWP Dashboard>User Accounts>List Accounts> select a user account>click on Edit and enable "Shell access" ,
2. Open a putty session and log in as one of the CWP clients User accounts
3. type php -v

It shows that this user (that i have changed phpversions for in CWP User panel) is unchanged

PHP 7.3.3 (cli) (built: Apr  2 2019 12:56:03) ( NTS )

Something is wrong? How to fix?

CentOS-WebPanel Bugs / Re: Problem that can cause security problems
« on: November 19, 2019, 08:59:26 PM »
I too have noticed that...it is a bit of a worry because people always believe that "auto-generated" passwords given by the system are random and therefore use them.

This is a very very dangerous problem for everyone who is being hosted by a CWP server. It needs to be fixed as a matter of priority. However, the other issue that goes along with this is the CWP passwords (no special characters restriction) and 8 character maximum password length for certain things. These are i think also a major problem that is causing a lot of other operations in CWP to fail all the time (because quite often users have passwords longer than 8 characters (because aut generators in various apps use passwords longer than that) and with special characters.

12
and also, CWP need to please stop saying "issue was fixed in next release" when in fact the fix has not been thoroughly tested and actually isnt even working/resolved (this happens so often its like a standard response that just gets blurted out without even thinking)

CentOS-WebPanel Bugs / Re: Wordpress installation issue
« on: November 19, 2019, 08:48:41 PM »
this issue has been known about for more than 1 year...probably since the CWP wordpress installer script was first introduced. It has never worked for me.

The solution has always been the same, in wp-config, change the password and it should then work. I wonder if the problem may be that the password length and/or characters are incompatible with CWP password restrictions for mysql etc?

CentOS-WebPanel GUI / Re: Root User - Filemanager upload stalls at 5%
« on: November 19, 2019, 08:40:29 PM »
"First you must generate a Key API with ROOT ACCESS on your cPanel/WHM server,"

I dont have Cpanel Root user access so this method cannnot be used for standard cpanel users. Hence, i thought that the other alternative "Cpanel Account Restore" was a working option?

15
I too am having problems with this. I have also placed a query on one or 2 other threads on thus forum about it...could it be because CWP is a php driven control panel and therefore pup defaults also apply to the panel?

Things like php max file size, php max post size, php timeout settings, php memory limits etc etc? Tue defaults for php are tiny and if these also applied to the CWP itself, would they all need to be dramatically increased?
