CentOS-WebPanel Bugs / Re: Almalinux 8.6 phpmyadmin not working end user 2083
« on: July 09, 2022, 01:21:39 AM »
People where complaining about missing libraries in Rocky Linux 8.5, not sure about 8.6.
And as mentioned we use AlmaLinux now.
I think it comes down to personal choice.

I've tried all of the panels over the years.
And so far CWP fits he best. But I'm also old, and use to use RedHat in the early 2000's when it was free, before they went paid and release their 1st version of Fedora.
Then maybe look at ISPConfig (Donation Based)
As it also has an auto install script (https://www.howtoforge.com/ispconfig-autoinstall-debian-ubuntu/)
I would use Debian (Release) over unbutu (Beta).
Updates are very slow, it has it's own proprietary billing system (https://www.ispconfig.org/add-ons/billing-module/), that is 59 Euros.
That being said, WHMCS and CPW is a great combo, but I do understand the minimum for WHMCS is $18.95 to $44.95/Month.
Depends on what fits your needs the best, not for just now, but you have to look down the road.

What I like about AlmaLinux, is it's basically the same company as CloudLinux that CWP recommends.
Alma seems to be the Free version, and Cloud the paid version.

If you need help with AlmaLInux 8.6, let me know.
We also have the latest Dovecot (2.3.x), MariaDB (10.8.x) and Apache 2.4.54 running.
Rocky Linux did have some libraries missing last time I checked. Hopefully they fixed that by now.

Maybe using centos 8 stream is bad advice, i just installed another cwp web server using centos 8 stream now i am thinking of deleting centos 8 stream and installing rocky linux as i have 1 web server now with almalinux. This is all so confusing, CWP need to support rocky and alma linux and drop the rest?
If you use alamalinux after updating you may need to do this: http://forum.centos-webpanel.com/index.php?topic=12143.msg41887#new
Not tried rockylinux yet going to try tomorrow not enough time to do anything today, i need to reinstall the web server i setup last night using centos 8 stream as it is not long term supported i think.

Only updated billing system out there is WHMCS. Unfortunately.
It seems only whmcs works well with cwp, tried blesta lots of issues now trying clientexec, and doing my best not to use whmcs it is just too expensive not justified. No open source billing that supports cwp that has been updated in the past 6-12 months?

Agreed, use AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux 8.6 with CWPpro.
But you do have to disable the CWP repo, so stop incompatibilities with release versions.

Stay away from stream or your be redoing the server at some point use alma linux or rocky linux

Actually it's the opposite, having the CWP repo is only good for development, since they push incompatible versions against release versions.
One of which you found.
We have it disabled, and AlmaLinux 8.6 supplies the release version of the updates, and the control panel version (currently 0.9.8.1040, with a pending update for tonight) is still updated via their script.
CentOS Stream is not a long term solution, since it is now an alpha version OS, below Fedora.
CentOS -> Fedora -> RHEL
(alpha) -> (Beta) -> (Release)

Thanks for the replies appreciated, no they are too busy partying maybe Need the cwp repo for updates but a good idea if not production. Going to keep this server and spent too much time configuring it, making a new server with centos 8 stream hoping that has fewer problems, will keep almalinux cwp and work with centos 8 stream too, looking for long-term server setups.

You just posted your own fix.
DISABLE the CWP repo.
It creates more problems than anything.
DISABLE the CWP repo.

SOLVED until you do a cwp update, do not run updates in ssh as it will reinstall back to previous phpmyadmin making it not work. I can confirm its all working now, i hope someone from cwp reads this post..
https://ostraining.com/blog/coding/update-phpmyadmin/ using this method to solve issue.
Warning!
If you run:
sh /scripts/update_cwp
It will make cwp reinstall back to the broken PHPMyAdmin.
All working but an error is showing in PHPMyAdmin end user:
The phpMyAdmin configuration storage is not completely configured, some extended features have been deactivated. Find out why.
Or alternately go to 'Operations' tab of any database to set it up there.
any solution from webpanel dev ?

No, they still haven't come out with a version that support the current PHP 8, and even for 7.4.
It's still stuck at PHP 5.6.x

Postfix / Re: Postfix SNI - Email SSL for each domain than Server hostname
« on: June 27, 2022, 12:35:53 PM »
Glad you found a fix for your system. But you listed only SMTP, not about POP/IMAP.
Thankfully we didn't need to do all that on any of our servers.
Our clients use a mix of Outlook, Windows Mail, and Thunderbird (What we recommend).
All with SSL/TLS on incoming & outgoing emails your their own domain names.

Do you have your MX and mail A record correctly setup as above?
You can check it at, once everything is configured correctly: https://www.mail-tester.com/

AlmaLinux 8.5, which is another RHEL spinoff like Rocky.
But AlmaLinux is the free version made by the same people who make the paid version CloudLinux, which CWP supports.

Any ideas?
