I gather, it's acceptable that the cwp services crashed. Not worth discussing.

First thing I will do when I get FO is build a network box and setup a LAMP server. No more requirement for web based GUI.

What happens when I get fiber optics at home and get 500 Mbps up and down?

You have misunderstood the grammar syntax. It says out of the three distros Rocky Linux is recommended. But overall, it says centos 7 minimal in system requirements (step 2) recommended.

Installation / Re: Now what
« on: June 05, 2024, 01:28:57 AM »Problem is they have 2 websites, centos-webpanel.com is outdated with that information.
Doesn't help they mention that CentOS 7 MINIMAL is recommended, which only means to use that and not the Network or DVD versions.
But the New control-webpanel.com has AlmaLinux 8 as the recommended version.
That was quoted from the new website my friend, not the old website.

So here we are in June 2024 just days away from EOL centos 7. And the CWP installation has this to say:

Please note that currently we still recommend CentOS 7 as the best version to get installed as it also provides our CWP Secure Kernel which is very important for server security and especially for shared web hosting servers.

Installation / Re: Y2K deja vu
« on: May 09, 2024, 12:20:28 AM »I doubt there will be any future CentOS Stream support, since it is now a beta operating system.
AlmaLinux is a production (aka primetime) ready OS, that even has FIPS Certification.
https://control-webpanel.com/installation-instructions#step4
"Installer for CentOS 8/stream, Alma Linux, and Rocky Linux (recommended)"
Once on AlmaLinux 8, you can use ELevate to upgrade to AlmaLinux 9.
No 'band-aid'
Both steps 3 and 4 recommend centos 7 minimal. https://control-webpanel.com/installation-instructions#step2

Moving to anything other than centos 9 is futile. My prediction is that cwp for centos9 wont happen for at least a year and more likely 2. By the time it happens, centos 10 will be out.

« on: May 08, 2024, 12:09:15 PM »No, this has been covered several times in other threads.
Yes, CentOS 7 is EOL in June.
Allot of repos have already stopped or are stopping support.

What you are saying about other distros is False. What exactly did I say that was false?
Quote
AlmaLinux 8 has been running successfully, and is currently the recommended OS.Last time I looked....2 days ago....centos7 was still the recommended OS
Rocky does have some missing packages, and it's recommended.

AlmaLinux also have an ELevate program to go from CentOS 7 to AlmaLinux 8.Admirable......but is this is just a bandaid. And we all know what happens when we rip the bandaid off.

CWP also has a beta CWP out for AlmaLinux 9.Again, supports my position that we are in a Y2K position.......waiting to see what happens instead of being prepared.

centos 7 EOL is June 2024.
Centos 8 Dec 2021.
Is this another Y2K scenario where no one knows what is going to happen at midnight?
I don't see any major announcements about the future of CWP without the recommended Centos7 installation. All of the other centos 8 distros are really not ready for prime time as they say.
I see storm clouds on the horizon for CWP. Or maybe it is a dust cloud from the stampede of users leaving?
