CWP Fresh install on Almalinux 9 Error root login

I try install cwp on almalinux 9 but i got error root login
Try change pass root, test by ssh command but still error login

Last day, i tested on almalinux9 on AMZ server, all working, current server tested working too

So, what error? How to check logs for that

Yes, PermitRootLogin is enabled
I can login by ssh with password from an other server
CWP no provide any logs for that

If this is a new AlmaLinux 9 install, it's a know bug being worked on.

Having the same issue on a new server brought up yesterday.

to

   I faced a similar kind of issue last time, I am still searching for some proper solution Same issue still no fix to this.

I'm finding out it depends on what image has been used.

If you boot & install from the DVD .iso, there is no problem.
But seems like very provider does their own tweaks to the images they use.

So if your provider give you an option to upload a .iso and a console windows to install, that is the best way.

But what Jose posted above works on AL 9.
Just comment out the SHA_CRYPT_MAX_ROUNDS line.

I just installed CWP for AlmaLinux 9.5 and facing the problem with login to the root.

Did you reboot and reset the r00t password after the change?

/etc/login.defs already commented
#SHA_CRYPT_MAX_ROUNDS 10000

sshd config already have PermitRootLogin yes and PasswordAuthentication yes

but still I am not able to login at CWP and getting error *Login failed*

I installed AL9 from datacenter image. other server installed AL8 from data center image working fine.

any help highly appreciated. CWP and its community is amazing.

Is your data center image based on the full/DVD installer, or the minimal install? You need a full install, not minimal.

Try this:

Code Select Expand

nano /etc/login.defs

Change to:

SHA_CRYPT_MAX_ROUNDS 5000

Then change the root password using the passwd command

Something with just lower & upper case letters and Numbers.
(You can always change it later)

You might also have to clear you browser of cookies & cache.
