Cannot login in to phpMyAdmin from user account

phpMyAdmin auto-login failed

The MySQL user ###### does not accept your control panel password - the two passwords were changed separately.

Set the MySQL password of ###### to your panel password in MySQL Manager (change password), or log in to phpMyAdmin with the MySQL password you use for it.

I've obviously done both (resetting both the cwpro and mysql pw).

There is also just one MySQL user involved, allowed from localhost.

This doesn't happen with other users.

Why?

A normal phpMyAdmin login works fine with the copy-pasted password.

Only from within the cwp client interface it doesn't work.

And the quotum spinner keeps spinning.

Is this a 8.3 quirk?
