CWP version 1.3 and 1.4 issues
« on: July 29, 2026, 10:21:22 PM »
The upgrade of CWP panel to version 1.3 and 1.4 has caused the following errors.  Anyone else seeing this? Any fixes?

1. The firewall manager doesn't work get the error - The module firewallv2 does not exist.
2. Mod Security dash board just has a spinner and never show anything
3. No search bar on the SSL certificates dashboard
4. Yum manager also just showing a spinner for all tabs

The firewall manager works when you click on the "Firewall on" panel at the top of the Dashboard page.

I am seeing the spinning circle of doom on the YUM manager (says checking for updates), the Security Centre and Mod security dashboard

I have CWP servers using Alma Linux 8 and Rocky Linux 8.   Identical issues

We are also seeing the same things !!

I was not even aware that CWP had updated itself !!
It was only when I could not access the server via cwp that we went looking.
We discovered SSL, was corrupt !!?? but got it back up and running.

Yum is now telling me there is a security update but with the endless 'spinner', who knows exactly What that update is ,.. lol

i am also having the same issues.

firewall gui doesnt want to load when clicking on the home page in de admin panel on firewall button on top . it loads but i need to scroll down the page skipping a whole screen that stays black and then i see totale screwd up a firwall gui page.
clicking in the menu on config firewall script does work but loads their gui version.

mod security not want to load and keeps turning circles

i also have an issue with using compress in the file manager.
when i use tar or tar.gz or tar.bz2 compression, it doesn't compress.

zip files made in the gui are 50% smaller then the  tar ones.  i tested this with help of googleAI and did tests showing that when issuing the tar.* function in the gui.... the flags to compress as tar.gz or tar or tar.bz2 are missing.

i scripted a command line that logs what the command is being given when using the tar in the filemanager gui,
root     1185351  0.0  0.0  12000  2688 ?        S    23:18   0:00 sh -c cd '/home/domein/manual_backup'; ionice -c 3 nice -n +19 tar -cvf 'name.tar.gz' 'public_html'

as you see the flag to compress a tar.gz is missing i tried all of them and none is giving the right flag
the flags are like this
.tar (archive no compression): cvf
.tar.gz (gzip compression): czvf
.tar.bz2 (bzip2 compression): cjvf

when i use de cli with tar it makes compression like 15% smaller then the zip ones made with the gui so tar is working fine. its the cwp  command that isnt functioning well.

also have an issue in the php fpm selector

for example when i want to install 7.4, i can select that. when i want to change the options it opens the option screen but the option never show, not the normal one neither the ini file option. it keeps loading

and even i don't want to change the options and just use the basic installation i cant click the save and build option as the the mouse shows the circle with the stroke through it 🚫 as im not allowed to click it

cront tab for users doesn't want to load either circle keeps loading

the new yum manager does not work. it loads the frame work, it just doesn't load the packages or history or updates

the sysstat SAR page does not want to load. it loads the framework but doesn't show results

under security menu item, firewall manager doesn't want to load says module v2 not exists,  list ip table rules keeps loading, mod security not work as stated earlier,  security center not want to load,

so far all the things that used to work before but are not now anymore.

Error in yum_manager...
Unfortunately, these are obfuscated files, so little further investigation is possible.

Version 1.7 fixes these issues

1. Firewallv2 error
2. Search bar on SSL Certs
3. php-fpm selector save and build
4. mod-security working

These still appear to be an issue
1. YUM manager - installed packages tab show empty list
2. When you click to the firewall manager you have to go back to the dashboard before you can click in anything else on the left hand menu

I'm getting leery of updating CWP.

What's the best way to disable auto update? I'd rather have the update sit and I can watch the forums for issues, because we ALL know there always something broken.

There's a new update pending right now.

ChatGPT recommends:

Code: [Select]

To disable automatic updates in CWP (Control Web Panel) on your AlmaLinux 8 server, you can do it through SSH.

1. Disable CWP automatic updates
CWP typically uses a cron job to check for panel updates.

Log in as root and check:
cat /etc/cron.d/cwp

Look for an entry containing:
/usr/local/cwp/php71/bin/php /usr/local/cwpsrv/htdocs/resources/admin/include/cron.php

Or a command referencing update_cwp.

You can also search for update jobs:
grep -RiE 'update_cwp|cwp.*update' /etc/cron* /var/spool/cron/ 2>/dev/null

2. Disable only the update job
If you find a dedicated CWP update cron entry, comment out that line by adding # at the beginning.

Do not disable the entire CWP cron file, because it may contain important maintenance tasks.

3. Check for an automatic update setting
In some CWP versions, the update behavior can also be controlled through panel settings.

Log in to CWP as root:
https://your-server-ip:2031

Check CWP Settings for an automatic update option. The availability and location depend on your installed version.

4. Verify
Run:
grep -RiE 'update_cwp|cwp.*update' /etc/cron* /var/spool/cron/ 2>/dev/null

Confirm the dedicated update job is disabled.

In CWP Settings > Edit Settings, do you have
Code: [Select]
CWP Updates: Stable (Stable version, at least two weeks tested)toggled on?

Alternately:
Disable a shell script: you can put exit 0 just below the shebang line #!/bin/sh
for a PHP script: add exit(); to the script, below the opening <?php line:
Code: [Select]
<?php
// terminate the script immediately with a success code (0)
exit();

CentOS 7 is way past EOL, RH sent it to their archive, and other repos just dropped it all together at this point.
So links to build packages no longer exist.

yum updates stopped working, since there are no updates anymore.

You're running a server with security holes, that will never be patched.

You should upgrade to either AlmaLinux 8 or AlmaLinux 9.

If your not good with setting security permissions, then you might want to look at AL8, since it almost acts like what you're running.
AL9 has a different security scheme, so does AL10.

CWP 1.19 just came out this morning.
